We are recruiting for an early-stage start-up based in Oxford who have recently secured their Seed funding. They are building a platform that leverages extensive Oxford University research to bring a disruptive technology allowing culture-free microbiology diagnostics in hours. The technology can identify bacteria and fungi from clinical samples and rapidly produce their antimicrobial profile in under 3 hours, compared to the current standard of 3 days. The success of this technology will ensure a revolution in the microbiology diagnostic space and set the standard for tomorrow.

As an experienced Microfluidic/processing/instrumentation Engineer for a hands-on role leading a team based in Oxford, you will get to experience building the company with the founders’ team. As a Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for managing the planning, designing, engineering, and building of our core pretreatment system for clinical samples and consumables. You will need to manage tasks and allocate resources in conjunction with the management team and other engineers, ensuring the delivery of engineering work to deadlines and developing and managing direct reports.
 
Microfluidics Instrumentation Engineer
Location: Oxford
Salary: Up to £60,000 + Equity + Benefits including 25 days holiday, 5% pension, Health Insurance
 
Desirable Experience
 

  • A minimum of 3 years experience in one of the following disciplines: microfluidics, benchtop processing, fluidics instrumentation etc
  • Experience in SLA, FDM, and other rapid prototyping techniques. We are very ambitious with our timeline.
  • Experience in microfluidic device design and fabrication, and or advanced bioseperation techniques/systems.
  • Experience with scaling production-level systems and consumables.
  • Experience with ISO 13485 / Medical Devices.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of organization.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. The role will involve constant interaction within a multidisciplinary team and with other stakeholders in Research, Development, Production, and Informatics teams.
