Senior Applications Scientist – Oxford  (Full-time, permanent position, 4 days on-site required)
 
We are seeking an experienced Senior Applications Scientist to join the productization team of an innovative biotechnology research company in Oxford transforming the way scientists measure and understand biomolecules. Our client is a $70M Series B funded company developing scientific instrumentation that is now being used around the globe. This pivotal role offers the unique opportunity to shape the future of next-generation instruments, right from their conceptual development through to their thrilling market launch. Responsibilities:

  • Lead the application development for state-of-the-art products, ensuring they meet rigorous product and market requirements.
  • Strategically develop and execute application strategies for innovative products, setting the stage for industry-changing launches.
  • Design, prioritize, and execute detailed test plans, working collaboratively across functions to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance.
  • Develop benchmarking and specific application samples essential for pioneering new products.
  • Craft standard operating procedures and acceptance criteria for products transitioning from pilot to full-scale production.
  • Foster a culture of excellence in experimental design and reporting, setting new standards in scientific communication and operational procedures.
  • Engage with key internal stakeholders from product management to sales, as well as external partners and customers, to drive successful product development and market acceptance.

 
Ideal Candidate:

  • PhD or M.Sc. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or closely related field, with at least 4 years of industry experience and strong experimental practice in when it comes to applications.  
  • Adept in Biochemistry, Biological Sciences, and familiar with Biophysics, Surface Chemistry, and Surface Interactions.
  • A visionary thinker with a flexible mindset capable of shifting research strategies as needed and effectively communicating these changes.
  • A meticulous planner with exceptional skills in experimental design, documentation, result analysis, and presentation.
  • An excellent communicator able to convey complex ideas to a variety of audiences.
  • A collaborative team player who thrives in cross-functional teams and is committed to driving innovation through teamwork and shared goals.
