Supply Chain Manager, Consumables
Oxfordshire (Hybrid)
Full-time, permanent position

We are seeking a proactive Supply Chain Manager to pioneer the supply chain consumables operations for a rapidly expanding bioanalytical instrumentation company in Oxford. This role is less about but building robust relationships with key suppliers. The suppliers currently in place need to be reviewed, supplier and quality agreements have to be put in place, prices have to be negotiated, ramp-ups to be managed and logistics to be set up.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish and manage strategic relationships with key suppliers, ensuring they meet our client’s stringent quality, pricing, and logistical requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with the R&D team to ensure supplier offerings meet the required specifications and integrate seamlessly into our product development.
  • Negotiate and implement contracts focusing on quality, cost, and supply chain efficiency, especially for perishable goods requiring specific temperature conditions.
  • Strategically manage the product lifecycle, including overseeing the production of prototypes and preparing for the launch of new products.
  • Act as a liaison between various teams including R&D, legal, and consumables units to facilitate smooth operations and compliance.
  • Lead inventory and supply chain strategies to minimize risk and optimise turnover and cash flow.
  • Provide insights and forecasts in collaboration with the product manager and other key stakeholders to align production with market demand.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Significant experience in supply chain management, particularly with perishable goods in a regulated environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong supplier relationships, not merely transactional interactions.
  • Solid understanding of legal aspects of supply contracts to complement the dedicated legal support.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to work across departments to unify and streamline processes.
  • Flexible and dynamic, capable of setting up new processes and systems within a startup environment.
  • Willingness to travel on occasion, primarily within Europe, to meet with suppliers and oversee production sites.

Benefits:

  • 25 days annual leave, excess-free private health insurance, critical illness cover and income protection, up to 7% employer pension contribution, salary sacrifice nursery scheme, enhanced maternity, paternity and shared parental leave, charitable giving, development opportunities, wellbeing resources, gym and retail discounts plus on-site snacks and lunches.

Please apply with an up-to-date CV and brief cover letter. We look forward to speaking with you soon.
