We are working with a newly established biotech startup located in the heart of London dedicated to advancing the understanding and application of epigenetic modifications and cell reprogramming techniques to develop ground-breaking therapies and treatments. They are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Scientist to join their scientific team as a Scientist who can focus on development of their AAV and Manufacturing projects. You will play a vital role in their research and development efforts related to cloning techniques, adeno-associated virus (AAV) technologies.
  
Scientist – AAV Manufacturing
Location: London
Salary: Highly Negotiable £DOE + excellent benefits including 25 days holiday and share options
  
Responsibilities:

  • Lead the R&D efforts of the company in research, with a primary focus on adeno-associated virus (AAV) manufacturing, both upstream and downstream processes.
  • Design and execute cloning experiments, including vector construction, plasmid preparation, and recombinant DNA techniques, targeting genes and related regulatory elements relevant to AAV production.
  • Cultivate and maintain cell lines for AAV production, ensuring proper handling, storage, and documentation.
  • Optimize AAV production protocols, including upstream processes such as transfection and downstream processes such as purification, in the context of vectors, and troubleshoot any technical issues that may arise during the process.
  • Collaborate with research scientists and other team members to develop and implement experimental plans focused on AAV projects and manufacturing, ensuring timely completion of project milestones.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records, including experimental procedures, results, and observations related to AAV manufacturing.
  • Contribute to the preparation of scientific reports, presentations, and publications, specifically focusing on AAV-related findings.

  
Qualifications:

  • PhD in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, or a related field.
  • Proven experience working in a laboratory setting, with a strong background in molecular biology techniques, including cloning, PCR, and DNA sequencing, specifically in the context of AAV manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with AAV biology and previous hands-on experience with AAV production, purification, and characterization techniques.
  • Knowledge of genetic engineering techniques, such as CRISPR/Cas9, and their application to AAV manufacturing is a plus.
