We are proud to be supporting a Biotechnology start-up based in Cambridge who are taking an innovative approach to cancer medicines through the targeting of disease specific macrophages. This is an incredible opportunity to make a substantial positive impact on healthcare.
  
We are assisting this organisation in their search for a Senior Laboratory Technician/Manager. The successful candidate will have previous experience in lab management ideally in an industry environment. Working closely with the rest of the team in the lab, you will be managing laboratory operations and further supporting tissue culture, recombinant protein, and biochemistry related to immune cell targeting antibodies in the tumour microenvironment.

Responsibilities:

  • Overall lab maintenance:
    • Stock management
    • Ordering/receiving stock
    • Buffer preparation
  • Overseeing Health & Safety Procedures:
    • Following legislation changes
    • Contribute to the writing of policies
    • Perform risk assessments
    • Ensure H&S procedures are up to date
  • Support experiments performed in the lab:
    • DNA plasmid isolation
    • Expression, purification and characterisation of recombinant proteins
    • Mammalian cell culture
    • Biochemical & cellular assays

You must have the following experience:

  • 3 years relevant lab-based experienced
  • Familiar with UK health & safety legislation
  • Prior experience managing H&S policies
  • Prior experience writing risk assessments and ensuring compliance
  • Familiarity with basic biochemistry, molecular biology and cell culture techniques
