About the role

As an Analyst at PACT, you will contribute to the development, characterisation, and scale-up of next-generation sustainable materials. You will provide analytical support and materials characterization using our in-house analytical facility. You will have on-the-job learning opportunities to develop expertise in different areas of biobased materials characterization using industry standard protocols. This is a great opportunity for a skilled early-career analyst with a passion for sustainability and material innovation.

 

Core Responsibilities

  • Support R&D efforts in the development of new products by employing routine and complex analytical methods.
  • Assist in the development and validation of new analytic methods that meet exacting industrial standards.
  • Troubleshoot and optimise testing methods
  • Collect, analyse and interpret analytical results and prepare technical reports and presentation.
  • Operate and maintain analytical equipment, ensuring high data quality.
  • Perform material testing and characterisation to evaluate product performance.
  • Work collaboratively across R&D, product, and engineering teams to meet project goals.
  • Adhere to lab safety and regulatory standards.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (2:1 or 1st Class degree) in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Chemistry, Textiles or Leather Science, Materials Science, Analytical Science)
  • Familiarity with analytical methods for testing materials, particularly those that are biobased.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Work independently to manage timelines and deliver results, while being an effective team contributor.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Aptitude with electronic word processing, spreadsheet and presentation systems, as well as comfort in using electronic systems and databases.
  • Excellent organisation, data analysis, and communication skills.
  • It is highly desirable if you have expertise in one or more of the following areas:
    • 2+ years of industry or research experience in analytical science or related field.
    • Experience with analytical techniques used in the evaluation of textile and leather materials (e.g., Bally flex, backing adhesion, Martindale etc.).
    • Experience with analytical techniques used in the evaluation of CASE (coatings, adhesives, sealants and elastomers) materials.
    • Experience with polymer, biomaterial, or textile-related production.
  • The successful candidate must, by the start of the employment, have permission to work in the UK. (PACT is a licensed sponsor for Skilled Worker Visa).

 

Salary

  • £28-35K
