The world needs to rapidly increase battery cell production to enable a faster transition to zero emission Technologies.  By being amongst the first to produce silicon material for battery cells, we can reduce the size of this challenge – putting a net zero future within closer reach for multiple industries. Today, Nexeon is home to two of the most exciting silicon anode materials.  As we transition away from research and into product development, a new way of working must be adopted; one that prioritizes customers and their requirements. Combined with the recent investment from energy and chemical giant SKC, it is a very exciting time for the company and one filled with enormous opportunity, but it will only be realized if we strengthen and add to our incredible team of world class experts in order to deliver our ambitions plans!
The Role:

  • Characterization and analysis of anode active material with the responsibility of operating an array of internal analytical equipment (SEM-EDX, TGA, PSD, BET, tap density and true density) and data management of those results
  • Monitor and assure reliability to quality control techniques/processes relevant to the business needs
  • Provide Production and MD teams with reliable, reproducible quality assurance
  • Execute adequate pre-experiment review before laboratory work is begun (e.g. COSHH and risk assessments). Apply enforcement as required.
  • Carries out analytical procedures in accordance with ISO 9001, ISO14001 and approved analytical procedures
  • Identify areas for improvement and actively promote Health & Safety culture aligned with Nexeon H&S policies and procedures.

What we are looking for:

  • Ideally recent and relevant industrial experience however, not required
  • Ability to work in small company environment, with large company professionalism
  • Preferably experience semiconductor or electronics industries
  • Can give examples of team work and cooperation
  • Track record of Health and Safety systems and practises, specifically in the laboratory environment

Essential Technical Skills:

  • Operate Analytical instruments including: BET, SA, TGA, PSD, SEM-EDX, by the prescribed procedures to the prescribed standard (ISO 9001) to provide a service which meets the needs of the company
  • Understand the throughput of the analysis highlighting inconsistencies and issues
  • Ability to follow procedures (SOPs) and rigorously compile electronic and hard copy records of experimental laboratory data, whilst maintaining meticulous attention to detail
  • Use Nexeon’s standard data recording systems (IDBS) to record and communicate results
  • Ensure data is reliable and reproducible
  • Excellent attention to details, check other team members’ results for error and omissions
  • Ensure that all work is recorded and reported as appropriate
  • Follow prioritisation indications and organise daily work routines to guarantee the completion of the planned activities
  • Ability to work independently on analysis while working as a team to provide material characterisation
  • Understand and support long term goals and objectives of the Team
  • Ability to work flexibly throughout the day, with the ability to adapt to the rapid throughput and changing demands, prioritisation and working pressure
  • Ability to effectively prioritise and/run in parallel multiple characterisation work streams
  • Promote the approach to health, safety and environmental aspects in the laboratory
