We are proud to be supporting a Biotechnology start-up based in Oxford looking to change the way we think about our food with their breakthrough technology. For those interested in sustainable technology and the transformation of the food industry, this is an opportunity too good to miss.  
 
We are assisting this organisation with their search for a Culture Media associate. The successful candidate will undertake scientific research to support the design and development of culture media formulations.
 
Responsibilities:

  • Undertake experiments in culture media R&D
  • Manual and automated maintenance of mammalian cell cultures
  • Reagent preparation for cell culture and characterisation processes
  • Characterisation of cellular samples for cell vitality (cell viability/numbers/sizing) and differentiation
  • Help with characterisation of spent media for secreted metabolites and nutrient composition
  • Production of culture media stock for screening
  • Undertake quality testing on reagents/cells/media

Your experience:

  • Degree in life sciences discipline (e.g. Biochemistry, Biotechnology or related)
  • Solid understanding of biochemistry and cell biology
  • Experience in aseptic technique and mammalian cell culture, ideally in handling of stem or primary cell types

It would be beneficial if you had experience in some of the following:

  • Knowledge and experience using analysis instruments (cell counters, UV-vis plate readers & microscopes/imagers)
  • Experience will molecular biology techniques e.g. protein quantification, PCR, enzyme-based metabolism assays
  • Knowledge of culture media fundamentals
