We have partnered with an Oxford based biotech company who are working towards the early diagnosis and treatment of cancer. This is a unique opportunity to develop disruptive technology in one of the most significant areas of Life Sciences, and as a result have a direct impact on human health.
They are looking to hire a Bioinformatician, who will drive the creation of new methods for the analysis of Next Generation Sequencing Data (NGS). The Bioinformatician will work across an interdicsciplinary team, working on the analysis of data to support the R&D and Clinical Studies.
Key Responsibilities: Bioinformatician
· Develop and refine novel methodologies and algorithms for DNA methylation and sequence analysis using next generation sequencing data.
· Collaborate closely with the assay design team, providing timely feedback, scientific input and quantitative assessment of data generated to wet lab scientists.
· Keep up to date with the developing literature for the analysis of methylation data using high throughput sequencing technologies and contribute these insights to the team.
· Produce high quality written documentation of methods & algorithms, plans and findings.
Person Specification: Bioinformatician
· PhD (of relevant industrial experience) in Bioinformatics, Statistical Genetics or related field.
· Previous demonstrable experience of analysing next-generation sequencing data.
· Solid skillset in Bioinformatics, understanding of the standards, data sources and tool chains used in NGS and clinical genomics
· Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) with the ability to communicate complicated ideas and information effectively at all levels.
· Enjoy working towards challenging goals in a fast-moving environment where on-time delivery of results is a high priority.
